RIGA, Latvia – Military leaders from across NATO came together to discuss prioritization of national defenses and integration as an Alliance during a one-day event here March 18, 2025.
The Latvian National Armed forces hosted the Baltic Conference with participants from Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe, NATO Allied Land Forces Command (LANDCOM), two Chiefs of Defense, and multiple NATO land forces commanders.

"We have to move together, we have to adapt and integrate faster," said NATO LANDCOM Commander, U.S. Army Gen. Christopher Donahue. "Our nations have taken concrete steps to investing in national and NATO infrastructure, we need to make sure those translate to harnessing technology and live data with magazine depth in a way that maximizes our lethality and provides credible deterrence, both here in Europe and globally." LANDCOM and the 1st German Netherlands Corps provided briefings on current threat perspectives and risks, and highlighted opportunities to become more integrated and responsive in the land domain.
Attendees also heard from NATO’s Allied Maritime Command, Air Command, and Naval Striking and Support Forces NATO as they updated leaders on joint capabilities and planning considerations for integrating joint assets into warfighting.
Lastly, senior representatives from the nations provided the attendees insight into their respective priorities for national defense and how those fit into the collective defense planning for the alliance.
The conference will use these outcomes to shape this year’s NATO summit which will take place in The Hague, Netherlands at the end of June.
