LANDCOM JOINS JFC NAPLES IN ENABLING MOROCCAN LAND FORCES FOR NATO INTEROPERABILITY

BEN BUÉRIR, Morocco – Allied Joint Force Command Naples (JFCNP) J9 Military Partnership Branch (J9 MPB) met with a Royal Moroccan Armed Forces delegation for an expert team visit on 08-10 February 2021.

The team from JFC Naples J9 MPB, which also included representatives from Izmir, Turkey-based Allied Land Command G9, participated in the second Force Preparation Working Group (FPWG) in support of the preparation of the MAR declared unit to successfully accomplish the Operational Capability Concept Evaluation and Feedback (OCC E&F) programme, through the implementation of the NATO Education, Training, Exercise and Evaluation process. A representative from the International Military Staff (IMS), NATO HQ Brussels, also joined the meeting in videoconference.

The objectives of the meeting were achieved. The NATO team, led by the French Army Colonel François Marechal, was very well received by the Moroccan delegation, led by the Army Colonel Major El Mouloudi El Orf. The NATO team was provided with a unit brief and shown both resources possessed and combat skills by the Moroccan troops. Across the three-day meeting, the unit demonstrated high standards of moral and well-equipped personnel and it set the basis to start the evaluation programme.

LANDCOM’s French Army Lt. Col. Benoit Deltour of G9’s Military Cooperation (MILCOOP) Branch affirmed the success of the engagement with an important NATO land domain partner. As a symbol of LANDCOM’s commitment to continued partnership in the OCC E&F program, he exchanged gifts with Moroccan Army Colonel Major A. Raji, Deputy Commander of the MAR 2nd Airborne Infantry Brigade.

The OCC E&F programme is the NATO evaluation programme designed to assess the level of interoperability and military capability of partner units in the NATO Pool of Forces (PoF) and supports partner efforts to develop forces that are fully capable of operating with NATO standards and procedures.
