TUNIS, Tunisia (Dec 12, 2019).  As part of the 1st Tunisian Mechanized Infantry Brigade preparation’s for entry into the NATO Operational Capabilities Concept (OCC) programme, a team of NATO experts from Allied Land Command and Allied Joint Force Command Naples conducted staff talks with Tunisian Defence Staff officials and observed the Tunisian Intervention Battalion for initial capability demonstrations during a visit Dec. 9-12, 2019.

LANDCOM G9 representatives Lieutenant Colonel Tore Bade, Norwegian Army, Lieutenant Colonel Benoit Deltour, French Army, and Sergeant First Class Jose Ahumada, Spanish Army, provided briefings where they discussed the future Tunisian OCC programme.

During the event, the NATO team flew via Tunisian Air Force to Remada near the Libyan border. From there the team was driven by Armored Vehicle to a Tunisian garrison south of Gabes where they were given briefs and observed multiple live fire and combat skills demonstrations by Tunisian soldiers.

The NATO team determined the Intervention Battalion was well equipped, demonstrated high morale, executed well-rehearsed Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs), and established a solid baseline for the land forces OCC programme.
