LANDCOM Mobile Training Team assists Tunisian Armed Forces

A mobile training team from Allied Land Command’s (LANDCOM) deployed to Tunisia this week at the request of the Tunisian Armed Forces in order to provide training to some of its officers on Crisis Response Planning.

The 4-person mobile training team is spending six days providing crisis response planning instruction to Tunisian Officers in the Army, Navy, Air Force and Special Forces and includes ranks from Captain up to Colonel.

LANDCOM Mobile Training teams come from the headquarters’ Military Cooperation section within the G9 Division, and deliver courses on various topics at the request of NATO Partners. They teams typically involve a 3 to 4 LANDCOM personnel that provide subject matter expertise to audiences in their home countries/

During the Lisbon Summit in November 2010, NATO introduced Cooperative Security as a new core task in addition to the existing collective defence and crisis management tasks. Cooperative Security consists of three components, including strengthening partnerships, contributing to arms control, non-proliferation and disarmament, and assisting potential new countries to prepare for NATO membership. LANDCOM contributes to Cooperative Security through several means, one of them being the provision of Mobile Training Teams to selected NATO Partners.

Being a prioritised NATO partner within the Mediterranean Dialogue group, Tunisia is an important partner for both LANDCOM and the alliance working together along NATOs southern flank. Mobile Training Teams like this one contribute to greater cooperation and improved knowledge and experience of partner nations like Tunisia.
