Thessaloniki - Greece. Commander of NATO Rapid Deployable Corps – Greece, Lieutenant General Dimitrios BIKOS, welcomed in the Headquarters’ premises the Deputy Commander (DCOM) of Allied Land Command (LANDCOM), Lieutenant General Paolo RUGGIERO, who paid an official visit on Wednesday, February 15th, 2017.
The General, after an official welcome ceremony, had an office call with the Commander of NRDC-GR, where they discussed subjects related with future plans to enhance the already excellent cooperation between the two HQs. A briefing delivered to the distinguished visitor in the HQ’s main planning conference room "Alexander the Great”, regarding the structure, role and mission of the Headquarters as well as the upcoming challenges on the way ahead to NRDC-GR transition to Joint Headquarters (JHQ). A fruitful discussion followed related with interoperability, standardization of procedures between LANDCOM and GRFs (L) as well as the cooperation with the affiliated units.
DCOM LANDCOM in the beginning of his remarks transferred his Commander’s,Lieutenant General Darryl A. WILLIAMS, solidarity to NRDC-GR HQ. In continuing the General expressed his admiration for the fantastic job and the significant milestones achieved by NRDC–GR concerning the transition to JHQ, his appreciation for the warm hospitality that he received during the visit as well as highlighted the professionalism, the quality and the commitment of NRDC –GR HQ’s personnel, national and international, showed to the tasks.
After a ceremonial emblem exchange and a commemorative family photo in the Landmark of NRDC-GR HQ the distinguished visitor had a small tour to the HQ facilities, including the Deployable Digital Printery and Deployable Air Operations Coordination Center, unique capabilities among NATO community. The event concluded with a visit in the war museum of Thessaloniki where the distinguished visitor had the chance to address to the Italian contingence of NRDC-GR HQ.
