NATO LAND ENGINEERS CONFERENCE (NLEC) AND CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE ASSESSMENT SEMINAR
IZMIR-Turkey, Headquarters Allied Land Command (HQ LC) hosted the 3rd NATO Land Engineers (NLEC) Conference on 22-23 March 2016. Within the framework of NLEC, on 21 March 2016 LANDCOM GENG(Engineer Division) hosted a Critical Infrastructure Assessment Seminar.
The conference was conducted as a combination of orientation briefings and sessions, followed by discussion.
The initial statement of the Conference was briefed by LANDCOM Acting Commander, Lieutenant General Paolo Ruggiero. The Conference aims to provide a forum for the GRF(L)s and Land Command to recognise and identify ways, together with the NATO Support Agency (NSPA), to enable / increase engineering capabilities’, interoperability, and synchronisation. It is envisaged that the conference supplement the NATO Senior Joint Engineers Conference (NSJEC) and provide for a working environment to detail, at the execution level, the engineer operational requirements.
The aim of the Critical Infrastructure Assessment Seminar (21 Mar 16) was to agree an Allied Command Operations (ACO )position on assessment of critical infrastructure based upon the outcome of the Military Engineers Working Group (MILENG WG) in January, where the topic was raised with nations.
