Izmir - On 12 April 2016 HQ Allied Land Command hosted a delegation from the Mountain Warfare Center of Excellence to explore and discuss possible ways to improve and enhance cooperation and support between the two organizations. The meeting was chaired by LANDCOMs DCOS PLANS BGen Andres Freire and the MW COE Deputy Director and Chief of Staff Colonel Alberto Zamboni.

At the end of a series of Briefings including the role and aims of each organization and covering topics like Doctrine, Lessons Learned, and Training and Exercises, both parties agreed that in the future both organizations will benefit from a closer cooperation. It was agreed to sign a "Letter of Cooperation” to formalize the findings. This meeting could become the starting point for LANDCOM for a closer cooperation with other COEs as well and forming of a land-centric COE cluster.
