NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg presents awards to LANDCOM personnel

On April 21st 2015, NATO Allied Land Command (LANDCOM) hosted a meeting of the North Atlantic Council, the principal political decision-making body within NATO. It brings together the representatives of all 28 member countries to discuss policy or operational questions requiring collective decisions. In sum, it provides a forum for wide-ranging consultation between members on all issues affecting their peace and security.

The North Atlantic Council and the NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg were briefed by LANDCOM Commander, Lieutenant General John W. Nicholson about some of the activities and achievements of LANDCOM since Full Operation Capability (FOC) declaration.

One of the most remarkable moments during the event was the Award Ceremony. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg presented awards to LANDCOM soldiers and civilians for achieving excellence in their positions. The Commander’s Commendation Award and Sergeant Yahya Award were presented to some personnel from the host nation in recognition of the Turkish Armed Forces’ contributions to LANDCOM, as well as to other personnel in the Headquarters.

After presenting the awards, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg congratulated all personnel for their dedication to LANDCOM and making the LANDCOM Headquarters even more successful. On behalf of NATO, he extended his thanks to LANDCOM and all its personnel for hosting this significant event. It was also a great pleasure for LANDCOM to host such distinguished visitors.
