Deputy Cdr, LANDCOM Hosts Cabal in Izmir

IZMIR - Allied Land Command (LANDCOM) conducted the third Deputy Commanders (DCOMs) Seminar (Cabal) November 23 and 24 2015. The event, hosted by Lieutenant General (LT Gen) Ed Davis, the Deputy Commander, focused on several topics including the initial findings from Exercise TRIDENT JUNCTURE 15, a detailed analysis of the Readiness Action Plan and the Graduated Response Plan. Davis said, "As the pace of the Alliance’s Readiness Action Plan implementation grows by the day, this opportunity to take stock and develop a shared visualisation of the best way forward with my NCS DCOM colleagues is invaluable.  The old adage of ‘a problem shared is a problem halved’ is certainly true!”

Deputy commanders from the Joint Force Commands in Naples and Brunssum, the Netherlands, Allied Air Command, Allied Maritime Command, NATO Special Operations Command (NSHQ) and the Naval Strike and Support Forces NATO (STRIKFORNATO) attended the event.  Other topics covered in the event were the outcomes of the Land Commanders Conference held in Lille, France in early October as well as practical development opportunities for the non-commissioned officer cadre that will be implemented or enhanced.

The DCOMs Cabal is a three times per year event, and the two previous conferences were held in Naples and Lisbon. The next Cabal is scheduled for May 2016.

The DCOM’s Cabal is an event to bring together the deputy commands from multiple commanders within NATO to discuss lessons learned from recent exercises as well as the way ahead on other initiatives.
