LT-GEN Fernando Garcia-Vaquero Pradal

Lieutenant General Fernando García-Vaquero Pradal was born on 30^th October 1961 in Madrid. After graduation from the Military Academy in Zaragoza he was commissioned in 1984 as an Artillery Lieutenant.He then served as platoon leader and battery commander in Mountain, Field and Anti- Aircraft Artillery units and attended several courses related to the Artillery.

He commanded the II Field Artillery groMAup of the Spanish Legion and the 20th Field Artillery Regiment of the Cavalry Brigade.

His Staff experience includes Brigade and Divisional level as well as the Spanish Army Staff and Joint Defence Staff. Between January 2015 and January 2017 he was appointed as Deputy Chief of Staff Operations of NRDC-ESP and from January 2017 as Deputy Chief of Staff Plans.

In March 2017, he was promoted to Major General and appointed as NRDC-ESP Advisor to the Commander. In May 2018, he was appointed as the Chief of Staff of NRDC-ESP. In December 2020, he was promoted to Lieutenant General and assumed command of NRDC-ESP. He has deployed several times with the UN, NATO, and EU, to the Balkans (SFOR and EUFOR) and Afghanistan (ISAF).

Lieutenant General García-Vaquero holds a Master degree in Peace, Security and Defense Studies at the General Gutierrez Mellado Institute, and attended several courses related with International and security affairs
