Brigadier General Uwe A. Becker is the Deputy Chief of Staff Operations at the Allied Land Command (LANDCOM) headquartered at Izmir, Turkey. Prior to this assignment, he served as the Director NATO Advisory and Liaison Team in Pristina, Kosovo.
He joined the Bundeswehr as an officer candidate for the Engineer Corps in 1982 and was commissioned in 1985. He holds a degree in Educational Sciences from the University of the Federal Armed Forces, Hamburg. In addition to completing the 38 th General Staff Course in Hamburg, Germany, Brigadier General Becker also graduated from the Joint Services Command and Staff College in Bracknell, United Kingdom.
He has led forces as Platoon Leader, Company Commander, Battalion Commander and Regiment Commander in various locations as well as served in different staff assignments, including Branch Head of Central Affairs Branch to the Chief of the Army at German Army Headquarters, Koblenz/Strausberg.
Other staff assignments have included: Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff G5 for plans and policy as well as Chief Plans Section; Corps Operational Planning Group of the 1 st German/Dutch Corps in Muenster.
Brigadier General Becker also served as the Commanding Officer of the German Army Combat Training Centre in Letzlingen.
While assigned to EUFOR in Bosnia and Herzegovina, he served as the Chief of Staff for the German Contingent and as the Commanding Officer of the German Combat-/Combat Support Force.
In Afghanistan, he was a Senior Mentor at the ANA Engineering School in Mazar-i-Sharif as a part of ISAF.
